These Photographs of Native Americans were made on assignment for the United States Senate's American Indian Policy Review Commission's report to President Gerald Ford.  I traveled across the United States in September & October 1975, for extended visits to Sicangu Lakota, and the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota; the Crow Indian Reservation on the Little Big Horn River in Southern Montana; Blackfeet Nation in Glacier National Park on the Montana–Canada Border and the Quinault Indian Nation on Washington's Olympic Peninsula on the Pacific Coast. It was a long and constantly interesting assignment. Of special note are the pictures of the peyote sacrament of the Native American Church at Two Strike, South Dakota, which has rarely been photographed.
